Yamper’s Arrival Kit

This post contains a few affiliate links in which I make a small percentage if you make a purchase but this at no cost to you.

I am so excited; I haven’t been this excited in a very long time. To start, three weekends ago, I put down my deposit for a corgi puppy. He was cute when he was three weeks now, now even cuter at four weeks. I’ve decided to share Yamper’s arrival kit with you all in case you have a puppy or a dog that you spoil too.

I can pick him up May 1st, I’m so excited. I can’t wait for his arrival; although he is 4.5 hours away in the mountains, which I love! He’s worth it with his cute furry face.

I’ve decided on the name Yamper, which for those who know is a Corgi Pokemon. I didn’t watch Pokemon until my boyfriend started the series and after I saw the little guy a few episodes in I think it’s a perfect name. Corgi’s are said to be very energetic and spunky dogs, which Yamper the Pokemon is an “electric” type so I think it fits perfectly. I’m sure he’ll have another nickname but that’ll be on his adaption papers.

My boyfriend seems to think I’m overdoing it and going overboard, but hey, everyone gets ready for a baby, right? He also told me to stop calling him my baby that he is a puppy. Well, I don’t have kids, so he is going to be my baby.

I’ve already picked up everything (Thanks, Petsmart!) and ordered everything else (Thanks, Amazon!) that he’ll need.

I’ve read so many puppy articles both in a search and on Pinterest that I’ve read everything on puppies there is to find on the internet. I know what to do with him for the first 48 hours I bring him home, and he misses his mom and littermates; I have mapped out a schedule, and I’ve got a few training posts pinned as he’ll be a well-behaved gentleman.

The kennel owner sends me weekly photos, which was this week’s photo out of the ten sent. This one is my favorite because you can see his face. He was either biting the box, fingers or was blurry from moving so much in the others. I call them his baby pictures, hehe. Yes, ok, I might be a little obsessed.

Look how cute he is, though! The first picture is of him at only three weeks; the second is him at four weeks. He’s starting to look like a puppy now.

Week 6

I wanted to share a few things I picked out for him; I’ll do a total review on the products once he gets here and has time to play with them, so that post should happen in May. Everything I picked out was for a puppy, except for his cate – that is for medium-sized dogs as he will be. This is only, so I don’t have to buy another one when he’s older and bigger. His breeder sent me a video (which I pulled this image from) Sunday night. He’s growing so much each week, I love seeing his progress.

I wanted to cover all of the aspects we’d be dealing with, like food, crate, toys, and treats. I ordered little Yamper a “Pup Mom Crate,” (click the link and save 20% off!) too, though, which I cant wait to see what comes inside. I wasn’t thinking about him being a puppy when I ordered it, so everything is coming for a medium dog, which he’ll grow into and that. It means I won’t have to buy a lot more toys.

For Training

His crate is roomy, and I’ve got dividers to put up, so he feels a little safer in a smaller space, but I’ll move them out as he gets bigger. I’ve decided to use a gentle leader on him; I want to use a harness when we’re walking through. For some reason, it just makes me feel better knowing he’s not pulling his nose off of choking himself with a regular collar. They say corgis are highly food motivated (hey, me too!), so I looked around to find him some training treats. I’ve never owned a puppy, so anything makes it easier for me to train them better.

Play Time

I wanted him to have a variety of toys, so he could figure out what he likes. I picked out a few that I thought would do the trick as they are all for puppies, and most of them are for teething too. A tug toy with a duckA stuffless squirrel with knots, an angry-looking raccoon which is a teething toy, a puppy Kong toy, of course, I got 4 of these as I can stuff them and freeze them so they’ll be ready when he’s overly active or fussy. Sweet potato spread for sealing the Kong, and puppy recipe Kong treats to fill the Kong before sealing.

Feeding time

I researched everything there is to explore the best dog food I could buy for the little pup. I went with FROMM since this is what he’s been eating. I’d thought about switching him to Purina Pro Plan for puppies though, I’ve heard good reviews but I don’t know yet. I’ll ask his vet for advice. He’s set for his second round of shots on the 17th.

I’ve decided I’ll be making his and Raylle (his older brother) their dog treats. This will come after a while, but I decided to go ahead and get the doggy molds and cookie cutters I’d need to in case I decided to do it sooner.

Here are the recipes I’ve decided to give a try first. I wanted to do something frown since spring and summer are here in full swinging, bringing upwards of 85-degree weather already.

You may think I’ve went a little overboard because I do too as well as everyone around ,e. I just want to make sure the little guy feels at home and has exactly what he needs (and I need) to make his transition easy. If you have any tips or tricks, please leave them in the comments. Since I’ve never had a puppy, I need all the help I can get!

8 Favorite Photos Of The Month

I love taking pictures, I think it’s so much fun to capture the moment while you’re in it. I also love the fact pictures hold memories and are made of these unforgettable times. I mean, when do you take a picture of something you want to forget about?

I’m sharing 8 of my favorite photos from the month, They consists of cuteness, inspiration, self care, and just plan willpower.

This is my new baby, Yamper. You’ve seen me speak about him (a lot) on the blog and even though I don’t pick him up until May 1st he’s already melted my heart. I have a chronic illness (Bipolar 1 & Anxiety suck!) that causes good days and severely bad days, so I thought about making him a service dog but my thoughts for right now are to bond with him very closely. He’s going to be my roll dog – literally.

A few weekends ago my boyfriend and I decided to go camping. I love it, it’s my new found relaxation self care. When we can always, the campsites fill up fast (especially those on the water). It’s so relaxing with the fresh air, the sounds of the water, being on the boat surrounded by nothing but water and beautiful scenery. However, I can’t divot without my air mattress and my battery operated mini fan. This photo was taken at Kerr Lake, NC. Everything about this lake is beautiful and quiet.

I also have a cat (name Quin) who’s adorable and very very independent, so when he hangs around I try to make the most of it. In this photo he’s taking up camp on my desk while I was trying to get client work done. After walking across the keyboard multiple times he settled down right beside me and fell asleep. I thought it was too cute how he fell asleep. Life is shard for him huh? He has a thyroid problem which is why his hair looks like it’s been electrocuted.

Give me all the books! I’m currently on “Red Velvet Cupcake Murder” because I finished “Cinnamon Roll Murder” in like 3 days. I love these Joanne Fluke books because it’s about a lady (Hannah) who owns a bakery with her assistant Lisa. Hannah finds all sorts of trouble tryin to help sole murder mysteries. plus, the book has recipes that she mentions in each chapter. My boyfriend has been begging me for years (even when we weren’t together) to make him something from the book.

Although I have changed my background (to column for organization and changed my folders to ones that are “glitter” to math my new background I still love this picture. I was having one of the worst anxiety/mania ridden days I’ve had in a long time. I wanted to do everything and nothing at the same time. My to do list was growing and I couldn’t get anything done because I couldn’t focus on just one thing. This photo reminds me that even on bad days there is still hope and inspiration to be found in these small moments.

I don’t post a lot of pictures of myself, I feel like an imposter when I do. Like I shouldn’t;t be posting them because you guys are here fir the content not to look at my mug. This photo was taken about an hour after I woke up one day. Again, this photo is a reminder that although days can be bad there are silver lining in some. I got up after this photo and had my mocha. Before having my mocha as you can see with my bedhead, no makeup, and non-existent expression I wasn’t feeling it that morning. This shot is very candid and I didn’t know if I would put it up or not but decided the hell with it.

Teqnically these two photos weren’t taken in the month of April but they’re worth sharing. What do you do with photo’s you love and enjoy looking at? I use CanvasPeople (this is not an affiliate link) for photos I want to hang on the wall that have a unique feel to them. I’ve started a canvas wall art gallery in my room where I can display these beautiful works of art; like the one pictured below. The photos are printed on canvas and come ready to hang, which is pretty awesome. I fell in love with this print which was from the top of the waterfall of Catawba Falls in NC, we also got the bridge from New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia hanging in the living room.

I love photography although all I have right now is an iPhone 11 and my sense of scenery. Sometimes it takes at least 10 tried before I get a photo I even remotely like but in the end it’s worth it.

Leave me a comment if any of these photos resonate with you. You can find inspiration everywhere even if it is just looking at a cute fluffy face or a bridge. A lot of these pictures show up on my Instagram too, you can check that out as well, if you like what ya see then give me a follow then leave a comment and I’ll follow you back.
